Be very careful. He documents everything when your in his office. All the typing he does, isn't for your issues or illness. Its to document you! What you wore, who came with you, did you bath that day, do you own firearms, etc. When you are talking, he is listening and creating a profile. This all goes into your folder and with you to the next Dr you see in the feature. As someone else said, he is nice. He gives pain meds out like candy without to much questions because he knows that is what the locals want. If you have a serious illness, seek another Dr. Listen to the other reviews.
When I had a CT Scan of my back I asked for an explanation/interpretation of the findings. He was unable to explain, simply said my back was basically hamburger and left it at that. My new doctor was able to break down the medical jargon into simple words. It was serious and needed treatment, something Dr. Doug Callahan never suggested. Simply put - he's a good doc if you already know all your stuff or are healthy. Don't expect explanations or him really looking into what is going on with you.
Honestly i am not impressed with this place, I was a patient of Dr Callahan in the 90's came back as a new patient and they must not value new patients. One of my kids were to see Amanda, I was told to come in early to fill out papers, had them done within 5 mins then waited 27 mins past original appointment time whiles 10 others walked after us waited a couple minutes and were called back. My wife brought one of my other kids in last week and waited 40 minutes to get in. Not impressed at all yet.
The doctor (Colby) made me wait in the exam room for 25 min. While he sat on a stool and made lighthearted conversation with the office staff which was easily heard through the exam room door. Not very respectful or professional in my opinion.
He's a doctor and is good for basic conditions. He is great for doctor shopping - he prescribes controlled substances very little questions asked.
Dr Doug Callahan truly cares about his patients. I can honestly say that he is the first family doctor I've been to that really listens to the concerns of his patients and does not rush his time with them. My first time in the office, the staff made me feel very comfortable. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a family doctor that truly cares about the health and well-being of his patients.
